In its latest Direct segment, the company introduced fans to a special version of its New Nintendo 2DS XL. What makes this handheld special is that it’s made to look just like a pokeball from the popular pocket monster catching franchise. While the package itself doesn’t actually include a game, players can pick up this new handheld a few weeks before the new Pokemon games arrive starting on November 3rd.
A price also hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the going rate for a New Nintendo 2DS XL is $149.99 USD ($199.99 CAD), and it’s likely that this unit will cost the same.
In addition to this Pokemon-themed unit, the orange and white New 2DS XL bundle that was previously a Japan-only exclusive is finally finding its way to the west. That particular version of the portable gaming device is coming on October 6th.
Meanwhile, fans looking for a Pokemon fix before November don’t have too much longer to wait as the classic Game Boy games Pokemon Gold and Silver arrive next week on September 22. Both titles are being made available for the first time through download on the 3DS’s virtual console.
While Nintendo went on to deliver a ton of news yesterday during its Direct presentation, the company revealed a number of new trailers and release date announcements for many of its 2017 games like Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Bethesda also showed a ton of support by not only announcing a November 17th release date for the Switch version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but also confirming that DOOM and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus are Switch bound as well.
